Benign prostate enlargement (BPE) is the medical term to describe an enlarged prostate, a condition that can affect how you pee (urinate). BPE is common in men aged over 50. It's not a cancer and it's not usually a serious threat to health. Many men worry that having an enlarged prostate means they have an increased risk of developing prostate cancer. This is not the case. The risk of prostate cancer is no greater for men with an enlarged prostate than it is for men without an enlarged prostate. Symptoms of benign prostate enlargement The prostate is a small gland, located in the pelvis, between the penis and bladder. If the prostate becomes enlarged, it can place pressure on the bladder and the urethra, which is the tube that urine passes through. This can affect how you pee and may cause: difficulty starting to pee

Some tests may be needed to rule out other conditions that cause similar symptoms to BPE, such as prostate cancer. When should I stop taking saw palmetto?

Saw palmetto can affect blood-clotting and may increase your risk of bleeding. If you need surgery, dental work, or a medical procedure, stop taking saw palmetto at least 2 weeks ahead of time.

Saw Palmetto Withdrawal Symptoms

I am a 25 year old healthy fit male. Was taking Saw Palmetto pills for about 4-5 years to reduce hair loss due it blocking DHT. I've had testicular swelling with pain/soarness for about 5 months. I decided to quit taking the supplement and noticed an increase in pain as well very low Libido and impotence since then. It's been about 2 weeks. I've read of other people having similar experiences coming off Saw Palmetto and some of the consequences have been long term. Should I go back on the supplement (maybe once every 2 or 3 days to ween off) or stay off it and hope my symptoms subside soon.
