East County residents, both women and men, talked about it. Darrika Sutter of Oakley chose 35 as the year a woman is in her prime. “By then she’s not yet over the hill. By the time she’s 35 she’s learned a lot about life and how to use that knowledge,” she said. “The best years come later, when her kids are grown. She then gets to be her own person and can enjoy a rewarding life with her adult kids and even with grandchildren.” Antioch’s Roland Stewart picks 48 for a woman in her prime. “Before then women still are immature, learning about life and survival. By 48 she is old enough to enjoy life. She has self-contentment and is able to love others rather than just herself. That also may be her best time of life.
