The survey of 1,000 people in relationships, by Bad Girls Bible, found most people are willing to wait 18 months in a sexless relationship before calling it quits. The study also found that 1 in 20 people have cheated because their partner refused sex. While more than a quarter of participants said they would give a relationship ultimatum before 1 year of no sex. A whopping 9 of 10 couples said they aren't satisfied with how often they're having sex. On average, men want sex about 3.3 times a week, compared to women who would prefer want 2.1 times per week, according to the survey. However, life’s demands like kids, work and a lack of time in general were often given as reasons to not have sex. Both partners want more sex in over half of the relationships surveyed. However, straight couples do have the largest libido gap. Furthermore, the report found unsurprisingly found large libido gaps grow with the length of a relationship. With 13% of new relationships reporting to experience a large gap, which increases by another 17% when the relationship reaches 10 years old. Managing your expectations when it comes to your sex life and having an open and honest conversation with your partner are the two steps to take when solving your sexless problem. It’s important couples do not equate frequent lovemaking with a happy relationship. And as ‘unromantic’ as it may seem, some experts recommend that you and your partner schedule time for intimacy. “People say ‘that’s not spontaneous’ but there’s no spontaneity in their sexual relationship anyway, so why not?” says sex therapist Teresa Bergin. “Kissing is highly underrated. Kiss your partner when you leave for work and when you return.” “Do things for your partner - be it taking out the rubbish, making them a cup of tea or shaving your legs. Little things make the world of difference because they show kindness, appreciation, effort, and love.”
