Erection Restoration after Prostate Cancer Therapy

Whether you’ve had surgery, radiation or chemotherapy to treat prostate cancer, chances are, you have suffered some changes in sexual function. After a radical prostatectomy, men may have nerve and blood vessel alterations to their erections that make it more difficult to achieve and maintain erections. Additionally, because the prostate gland and seminal vesicles make the majority of semen fluid, men after prostatectomy will no longer ejaculate. They can still have the pleasurable sensation of orgasm, just no ejaculate fluid. Ejaculate fluid also greatly diminishes after radiation therapy. Erections tend to lessen after radiation as well although it is often a more gradual decline.

What is Erection Restoration?

how much does being overweight effect a woman’s chance of getting pregnant?

In most cases, being overweight does not affect your ability to get pregnant. However, being obese (rather than overweight) can decrease your chances of getting pregnant. That’s because weight can have an effect on your hormones and can prevent your ovaries from releasing an egg (ovulation). Being underweight can cause the same kind of problem. “Overweight,” “obese” and “underweight” are medical terms referring to someone’s body mass index (BMI). Figure out your BMI here. Some studies also show that being obese may make you more likely to have complications during pregnancy or experience a miscarriage. But many obese people have no problem getting pregnant and do not experience these health issues. No matter what your weight is, it’s important to visit a doctor or nurse before trying to get pregnant. That way you can make sure you’re healthy, discuss any risks or problems you may face before or during pregnancy, and be connected with someone if you have questions during the process. Your nearest Planned Parenthood health center can help with pre-pregnancy health.
