Is There Such Thing as Purple Eyes?

Your eyes are one of the very first things someone notices when they look at you. They show emotion and are many times a dead giveaway to what you’re thinking or feeling. As you look around, you’ll find people with blue, brown, or hazel eyes. But is it possible to see someone with purple eyes? Do you know someone with violet-colored eyes? If it’s possible, what other eye colors exist? Let’s check out all the possibilities.

Can You Have Naturally Purple Eyes?

Yes, natural purple eyes are possible. There are many different shades of blues and greys out there and many in-between colors. Although very rare, some people’s natural pigmentation can even be violet or purple in color. As you know, your eye color can also change depending on the lighting in the room and the clothes and makeup you are wearing. Has it ever seemed as though your eyes were completely different just because you were wearing a new shirt? What about seeing a loved one outdoors, in the sunshine with bright, excited eyes? The lighter your eye color, the more light that is reflected off of them. You can definitely make your eyes appear brighter, lighter, and more vibrant with a simple clothing or lighting change.

Who in the World Has Purple Eyes?

Maybe you know someone with purple or light violet-colored eyes. What a treat if you do! Elizabeth Taylor, a Hollywood actress beginning in the 1940s, was well known for her beautiful violet eyes. Today, many people believe that they weren’t naturally violet, but colored contacts did not even come about until the 1980s. Ms. Taylor truly had beautiful, natural, violet eyes that were just stunning. She knew how to wear bright, colorful clothing to make her eyes “pop” and look even more vibrant.

Have you ever run into someone with a really unique eye color? It is neat to see the different colors even our close family members can have. Why do singers keep their eyes closed?

Closing one's eyes while singing leads to increased auditory acuity and improved vocal control - which acts as a type of biofeedback. This allows the singer to express an enormous amount of energy at the moment as it becomes a larger-than-life experience.

Most people do not realize that 90% of our sensory input is visual in nature. The remaining 10% is shared by the senses of hearing, smell, taste and touch. Also, 40% of the mass of the human brain is dedicated to vision. One benefit of closing our eyes is that there's a mild reduction of blood, nutrients and neurological activity going to the brain's visual center - and uptake of these qualities in the remaining four senses of hearing, smell, taste, and touch. Therefore, the other four senses, along with the emotional and cognitive portions of the brain gain some temporary sensitivity. When we close our eyes, it causes an increase in our ability to feel affection. So, if we are singing about something we love: whether that is our country, our significant other, a pet, etc. it causes our affection and emotions for that person to become intensified. A similar phenomenon occurs when we taste a delicious dessert or smell a favorite flower, etc. It is not just our Even a person with excellent vision will instantaneously increase their sense of touch a - by just closing their eyes. Singing is not only a very multi-sensory experience - it is an intensely emotional experience. Closing one's eyes while singing leads to increased auditory acuity and improved vocal control - which acts as a type of biofeedback. This allows the singer to express an enormous amount of energy at the moment as it becomes a larger-than-life experience. This burst of emotion acts as a contagion and pulls us into the singer's emotions, and many of us will feel that excitement along with the singer.
